McCain - Down but not out

Since this is my first entry, I thought I would concentrate on the Republican Party's number one concern right now -- the race for the White House.  I doubt whether this is the REAL #1 concern of most actual grassroots Republicans, but if you are reading this, you are probably not a typical voter/citizen.

Great.  So I love Dick Morris' column writing-off McCain's campaign.   Rudy up by 23pts in recent ABC/WashPst poll.  BFD.  Rudy wins the last week of February 2007...

McCrank is not finished.  Not by a long shot.  McCrank does have money, maybe not enough to seal the deal, but he is raising money.  The institutional money will flow to him because his pockets are overflowing with big name consultants.  He will come back, unless he is exposed a la YOUTUBE or some other Macca-moment showing him to be as old, grumpy and frail as he truly is.  Even Bob Dole has been cautioning that McCain will look old and tired by the time this is over -- McCain did back Gramm over Dole in the 96 primary, so, no hard feelings there I suppose...and he did stab Dole in the back over and over again in the Senate...but again, no hard feelings, I'm sure.

Unfortunately, McCrank has his old campaign team wrapped around like duct tape on a sex-crime victim.  And they are bending him over and screwing him much the same way.  His "loyal" consultants seem to have allegiance mostly to their own graft efforts.  Could they be double-dipping, funneling funds through shell companies and so forth..?  Well, we shall see.  Can anyone say DEAN campaign?  Remember how much money his team of consultants paid...themselves????  Strange how the effectiveness of your work starts to be unimportant, when you are paying yourself.  And all of those former Bushies working for or contracted to McCrank...they would bolt for Rudy in a heart beat once he starts to win primaries.

McCrank's gauntlet of endorsements grows by the day, except for Members of Congress and other Senators.  In other words, those who know him best, would rather NOT endorse him it seems.  And why could that be?  After all McCrank has had such a stellar record of accomplishment in the Senate.  He has championed...um...well...I guess... just about anything that would get him on TV!  And isn't getting your face on TV what true leadership is all about!

Well, I seem to be arguing with myself a bit.  MC is not to be written off, not yet.  His ego and his compliant, xenophobic supporters will fight like hell to put him in the driver's seat of the Republican bus...so he can take us off the cliff to a land-slide loss.

But on the Bright side, McCraink does not connect with the grassroots of the Party.  He has no agenda.  He is old.  He is a jerk.  His staff is going to rob his campaign blind.  So this is still hope that Rudy can overcome his C-Team staff, his personal problems and his liberal record to wrest the Nomination from McCraink, and take us to the promised land of Rockefeller Republicanism.
